Disadvantages Of Transparent Braces
orthodontics
Many people are exposed to many problems and defects that affect one or both jaws, which results in the teeth appearing less beautiful, as a result of their lack of arrangement and regularity. These problems are often treated after consulting a dentist and accurately identifying the problem. One of the most prominent treatment mechanisms that are followed in such cases is the installation of dental braces of various types, which can be defined as wires and brackets made of metal, fixed on the teeth for a period of time determined by the doctor according to the medical condition and the patient's response to treatment.
Clear braces
Many people believe that orthodontics causes them greater problems than they actually have, as it causes a lot of embarrassment to many of them, especially if they are under twenty years old. To avoid these problems, specialists have been keen to invent a new technology to be a suitable alternative to regular orthodontics, which is clear orthodontics, and it is characterized by being a thin, movable piece made of clear acrylic.
Orthodontic braces are specially designed for teeth that need braces, and it is important to replace them after each stage of treatment is completed. The treatment period with this technique usually ranges between six and twenty-four months, depending on the severity of the existing condition.
Advantages
- It maintains the beauty and appearance of the teeth, as it is difficult to see.
- Its results appear amazingly quickly, because it moves the teeth continuously until they reach the correct and ideal position.
- It does not hinder eating and drinking as with metal wire braces, so the patient does not need to remove it during meals or when brushing the teeth.
Defects
Despite the many advantages of clear braces, like any modern technology that appears in any field, it has some disadvantages that reduce its importance and therapeutic effectiveness, especially in the long term. The following are the most prominent disadvantages of clear braces:
- Its cost is very high compared to braces with metal wires.
- It needs great care, as not any type of food is suitable for it. Rather, specific types must be chosen, in order to avoid it expanding due to heat, or shrinking due to cold, given that it is made of a plastic material that is susceptible to heat.
- Clear braces may not show any results, especially in the later stages, which requires resorting to regular braces.
- It is not suitable for all medical conditions, but it is particularly suitable for crooked and tilted teeth.
