Dental Crown Method

God Almighty created man in the best stature, and distinguished him from other creatures by his erect stature and beautiful appearance, especially the beauty of his face. The beauty of the face lies in the beauty of the smile, and the secret of a beautiful smile is healthy and shiny teeth. Teeth are the protruding bony structures from both jaws in the mouth. In addition to the beauty that these teeth add to the smile, they work to cut and chew food when it enters the mouth, to facilitate its digestion in the digestive system.

God Almighty has distinguished man with the ability to speak and pronounce, and one of the things that most supports him in this is the teeth; many letters depend on the presence of teeth for their pronunciation. Teeth are exposed to many problems; such as decay, breakage, or any problem of this kind that distorts the beautiful image that teeth draw on the face; therefore, people resort to treating these problems and repairing the teeth, and this may require some operations, the most prominent of which is the process of dental crowns.

Dental crown process

Dental crown: This is a covering placed on the damaged tooth, covering it completely. This process aims to restore the tooth to its natural size and shape, and to strengthen the tooth and improve its appearance. Dental crowns are used in the following cases:

  • Tooth fracture, and the fillings are unable to close and fill the space caused by this fracture.
  • A crack or fissure occurs in the tooth. Dental crowns help prevent further damage to the tooth in the long term.
  • Bridge installation.
  • Protect teeth from breaking or shattering.
  • Making the tooth fit for chewing food, dental crowns repair, treat and restore the tooth.
  • Teeth are crowned to cover the dental implant.
  • It may have a cosmetic purpose, as this procedure beautifies the appearance of a tooth that is broken, deformed, or has changed color and become yellow.

How to dress teeth

As for the dental crown process, it is done during two visits to the dentist as follows:

First visit

  • The doctor examines the teeth, determines the extent of damage, studies the teeth carefully, and prepares them in a medical manner.
  • The doctor takes an impression of the teeth and takes it to the laboratory to make the crown. This step helps in knowing the shape and size of the teeth and the space that the crown is to be filled.
  • The dentist places a temporary crown to cover the exposed tooth that has been drilled and to prevent it from moving until the permanent crown is installed.

Second visit

  • The doctor performs a medical tooth filing procedure.
  • Taking an impression of the gums and teeth after the grinding process, and sending it to the laboratory to manufacture the permanent crown.
  • The dentist places a temporary crown on the tooth until the permanent crown is made in the laboratory.
  • Finally, the dentist removes the temporary crown and replaces it with a permanent crown.
  • The crown lasts from 5 to 10 years, depending on the care of the crown, and following the correct habits in cleaning the teeth and caring for the crown.
